My dear Birju,
I am very happy to get your sweet letter.  In my last letter I informed you how I  was busy in celebrating the  Independence Day in our school. You have expressed great interest to have a pen picture of the function celebrated by us.
Over seventy  years have passed since India become independence from British rule. As the country was going to celebrate this day with much fanfare and enthusiasm the Cultural Committee of our school decided to celebrate this year's Independence Day in a befitting manner.  Fr ensuring presence of some distinguished guests, The function was celebrated in the evening instead of morning. Our school building was decorated with light and flags.  On the 15 th August at 4 p.m. wr gathered at the school premises.  The guardians and some distinguished guests were invited. The function began at 4 p.m. The President of the school hoisted the national flag. Some students sang patriotic -songs.  The Headmaster and some renowned scholars of the city delivered impressive speeches.  They described very nicely the importance of of the day. Some Some of us recited poems. Then a beautiful exhibition was inaugurated by the chief guest, the Mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The exhibition was on the lives and activities of our great patriots and martyrs who sacrifice their valuable life for the freedom of our country.  At last a beautiful drama was staged . I also took part in that drama. The function came to an end at 8 p.m. The students and guardians praised a lot of seeing the drama and exhibition.
