Dear Prince,

I wish you were here visiting India with your parents this time of this year. The whole country is in a festive mood and I will tell you about one festival that encapsulated the Bengali sprit j.e. Durga Puja. You'll find Bengalis living in New Jersey also celebrating this, but the true grandeur can be witnessed here in Bengal.
The preparation starts nearly two months before the auspicious day. Large pandels are erected and then they are decorated in the most innovative way . The idol of Ma Durga is created by master craftsmen.  The festivity lasts for 4 days and you will be amazed bg the crowd on the streets. This is one festival which brings out the literary, culinary, artistic skills of the Bengalis to the fore . It is to be seen to be believed.  My words, I am sure, are unable to convey the real experience, flavour of the festival.  So do come once and get soaked in this joy . Do find time to at least go through the photographs I'm sending you with this letter.
